Romeo & Juliet, Saturday, Sept. 29th 2007, Seattle Shakespeare Co. www.seattleshakespeare.org

Shakespeare's classic tale of love and loss is pared down to 90 minutes of heart-stopping action. Seattle Shakespeare Company's production of Romeo and Juliet tells the tale of young love ripped apart by family hatred. Seattle Shakespeare Company Artistic Director Stephanie Shine distills the action of the play to its most salient moments to create a whirlwind of emotion that mirrors the passions of the young people that populate the world of this play. Five actors, fully costumed, with swords at the ready, play multiple roles that give new insight to this beloved play. If you're new to Shakespeare's work, it is the perfect introduction. If you're already a fan of the Bard, you'll find something new to love in the re-telling of Romeo and Juliet. Seattle Shakespeare Company is the Washington's only year-round professional, classical theatre dedicated to producing the work of Shakespeare and other classic playwrights. The Company's growing success stems from a deep belief in the power and vibrancy of Shakespeare's words and ideas along with a commitment to artistic excellence on the stage. The results have been provocative performances that both challenge and delight audiences while fostering an appreciation for the greatest playwright the world has ever known.
